One of the bigger cities on/at the american east coast is Philadelphia. I was there for a few nights but feel like I’ve seen most of the highlights. In this post you’ll read more about 5 places to visit in Philadelphia.
- Philadelphia Museum of Art (+ Rocky stairs)
Seen the movie Rocky? Then you’ll probably recognize the stairs in front of this museum. The buidling is very pretty and the museum has beautiful art. Check the site to see if there is a special exhibition going on.
- Liberty Bell
Philadelphia is a quite historic city. In the historic part of the city, you can visit the Liberty Bell for free. If you want to, you can also visit liberty hall or the visitor centre, where they show 2 short historical movies about.
- City Hall (observation deck)
The City Hall of Philadelphia is a beautiful building. If you want to, you can go inside and visit the observation deck. There you will have a nice view over the city. Near the city hall you’ll find stores, so if you want to do some shopping, that’s where you want to be. And chestnut street.
- Eastern State Penitentiary
Want to visit something unique? Go to the Eastern State Penitentiary. It’s very special and cool to see as well. The audio tour is free and on somedays you can also join a guided tour. Make sure to look up the timetable. I definitely recommend the guided tour, very interesting.
- Reading Terminal
In Reading Terminal you will find a lot of different small stores / food stand. Sweets, meat, sandwiches and more. You can buy something there and eat it inside or take it with you and eat it somewhere else if you like. There’s definitly something for everyone.
