WHERE I STAYED: New York Loft Hostel

New York City was my second stop during my two month during solo trip. Before I arrived, I already made sure I booked an accommodation. New York is a big city, with a lot of hostels. I ended up staying at the New York Loft Hostel for quite some nights and had a great time there.

- The Hostel:
In the evening, the hostel organizes events. Mostly music performances in the bar downstairs and they have a free pizza night or bbq as well. There also is a rooftop with chairs and a ping pong table which is pretty cool. The perfect place to hang out, or in the garden downstairs. In the morning you can eat breakfast for free. There’s toast, bagels, yoghurt, drinks, oatmeal and some more. Didn’t disappoint me at all.

- The rooms
There are different kinds of rooms. With bathroom or without one. Rooms for 2,3,4,5,6 people. I stayed in 2 different rooms. Once in one for 3 people and in one for 4. The rooms I stayed in were very spacious and the beds were okay as well. One thing I didn’t like that much was the white, sort of see through curtains. Make sure to bring an eye mask if you’re like me, and light wakes you up sometimes. O and earplugs. In the morning, a lot of trucks drive by which makes a lot of noise.

- The location
The New York Loft Hostel is located in East-Williamsburg. A cool neighborhood in Brooklyn. There are some stores, bars, and restaurants near the hostel. Especially during the evening, there will be a lot of people on the street. There’s a subway station quite close to the hostel, so if you want to go to Manhattan, you can be there in about 15/20 minutes. Make sure to check out more parts of Brooklyn as well. Close to the hostel, you’ll find a lot of street art. If you go to Bedford Avenue you’ll end up in a cool part of Williamsbrug with a lot of nice stores and a market on Saturday.

I loved staying in East-Williamsburg because I think if I would have stayed in hostels in Manhattan all the time, I might wouldn't have explored Brooklyn as much as I did now. And staying here was (for NY prices) not that expensive. Have you ever been to New York City? Did you stay in a hostel there?

  1. This place is clean and has nice ambiance, more like modern than classic. Our visit was just amazing. I believe it was a treat to be at San Francisco venues. It would be a treat to attend another event here.
