6 Places To Visit In San Francisco

places to visit in san francisco

When you're visiting the west coast of the United States, make sure to go to San Francisco as well. It's a very hilly, but very beautiful city. A lot of people say they fell in love with the city after visiting it. Something that didn't happen to me. Not completely sure why, maybe I should go back one day. But still I had a great time and did a lot of things. In this post I'll share a list of places to visit in San Francisco.
places to visit in san francisco golden gate

- The Golden Gate Bridge
When you’re in San-Francisco, make sure you go to the Golden Gate Bridge. A bridge that’s actually red, and covered in smog /clouds a lot of the time. Something you could do is rent a bicycle, and bike the bridge. Or you could take the bus/uber, and walk on it. The view from up there is beautiful.

- China Town
In my life, I’ve visited a few China Towns and so far, the one in San Francisco is my favorite. It’s colorful, big, and the buildings look cool. Most of the stores are souvenir stores but there are some restaurants as well. If you’re looking for a place to buy some T-Shirts as a gift for friends/family/etc., you should go here.

places to visit in san francisco alcatraz

- Alcatraz
Alcatraz, a very popular attraction in SF. So if you want to visit it, make sure you book tickets in advance. I was lucky, because there was just one ticket and one timeslot left during my stay in San Francisco. Alcatraz is a very known prison, located on an island. A boat will take you there. On the island, you can visit multiple buildings and do an audio tour. The audio tour is very interesting. You’ll get to know a lot about Alcatraz’s history and you’ll learn some ‘fun’ facts as well.

If you’re interested in art, or just want to visit a museum, go to SFMOMA. They have a very large collection of amazing art. Make sure to check out if they have any special exhibitions going on. Near to the museum there’s a park, the perfect spot to relax after your visit.

places to visit in san francisco pier 39

- The Pier
Pier 39 is probably the most touristic place of whole San Fran, but definitely fun to visit. There are a lot of stores, restaurants, you can play arcade games and just walk around. At some point, you might wonder what that weird sound is that you’re hearing. It’s the sea lions. They have a chill spot there. Fun to see. The smell is a bit less fun.

- Coin Tower
SF is hilly. Very hilly. To get to the coin tower, you have to walk some steep streets but it’s worth it. (Or you could take a cab of crouse) From up there, you have a great view over the city. You can see the golden gate bridge, Alcatraz, and a lot more.

There are many more places to visit in this wonderful city. This is just a list of the places I enjoyed most. Sadly I wasn't in this city for a long time, so I'm not sure if I experienced it all. As I said before, a lot of people love, really love San Francisco. I think I have to go back and stay here for a longer period and visit more of the city to be able to love it as well. Have you been to San Francisco? What are some of the places you visited?

  1. Ik vond San Francisco heeel tof! Het had echt zo'n bepaald sfeertje, I loved it :) En Alcatraz was zo indrukwekkend!

  2. This is by far one of the best places to hang with friends, have great drinks (amazing beer selection), eat some great food, including the great lunch I had there. Prices at Los Angeles venues are very reasonable and the pizza was awesome.
